I’ve long been a fan of the Legion of Super-Heroes. Conversations with Dave Cockrum were the high point of New York conventions I used to journey to from the wilds of Pennsylvania. Most of the cons I went to in New York had guests like Neal Adams and Dave Cockrum and Joe Rubenstein who were all working in comics and were very happy to talk to a gal fan about how they did comics. I usually dressed up as a Legionnaire for these events, and so Dave would get Phantom Girl at his table, asking him which paper he liked to draw on best. Marvel paper is still the choice, but not allus available! I would watch him just flash out drawings for fans of the Legion, Robin, Thor, Spidey and those new X-Men he was just getting into – like Storm and Wolverine.
